Character....or not

Although I've been spending the majority of my time away from work playing NCAA07, I have paid some attention to the sports news recently, and the more I watch, the more I am determined to root against Marvin Lewis. I hate to say it because I'm a huge Chad Johnson fan, and Carson Palmer is on his way to stardom. Marvin Lewis made it a point to address the character issue of his players and how it affected his draft, then went out and did everything he said he wouldn't. Maybe he has something against Adam Sandler and figures nobody will have to watch The Longest Yard if they can watch criminals play football 16+ weeks this year. Though I guess he also figured that Chris Henry needed more friends and thought that they might as well be on the team. This attack on character issues should not just be focused on Bengals players, as every team has their share of problems. My biggest character issue has to deal with The Redskins and Sean Taylor. How Joe Gibbs got the reputation of being a character coach is beyond me. I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that Dexter Manley was NOT a high-character guy. The Redskins chose to bench LaVar Arrington for "not playing within the system," but don't suspend Sean Taylor for spitting in Michael Pittman's face. Sure, he was kicked out of the game, but he also lied to the coaching staff. He should've been immediately suspended....if not for the following playoff game, then at least let it known then that he is being suspended for a game in the following season. They essentially suspended LaVar considering their backup was Warrick Holdman, and nobody in the NFL could even put them in the same league (not to mention if you take a look at the defensive stats for the Redskins last year the difference was obvious. Can someone name an off the field problem LaVar has had? At least he's not spitting in faces or waving guns at people? What kind of example does this type of action set? I mean I guess its fitting since the legal system is already set out to make life easier for athletes anyways, and considering we're supposed to assume innocence, it kind of puts those in charge in a tough spot. Nevertheless, character is diminishing as a factor is someone's draft status no matter what the league says.

Common Courtesy

Is it just me or is the world becoming a less desirous place to live? People are becoming rapidly less friendly and more in a hurry to go places or do things.

Is it still considered rude not to answer the phone when you've made plans with people....and then not to return any of the calls following a message? What do I know though, I would've checked my phone repeatedly if I knew I was meeting someone. Isn't it just common sense to call and apologize when you don't meet up with them? Perhaps its my fault for associating with such people, but nowadays I feel like its hard not to.

Isn't this the same type of courtesy people are showing on the roads on a daily basis now? I constantly find myself letting people in without the slightest bit of thanks from them. Kinda makes you wanna flick them off.

This type of thing seems to be happening more and more often to me....why can't we just get along?
